A Gulf Coast summer is the real hazard for a guinea pig. They cope with cool far better than heat, and heatstroke can kill within hours once the room climbs past the mid-20s Celsius (about 80F).
We keep the cage in the coolest interior room, never by a window, and run the air conditioning through the worst of the day. Frozen water bottles and a ceramic tile in the cage give them something cool to lean against, and we offer extra water and hydrating veg like cucumber.
Watch for panting, drooling and lying flat and limp; those are heatstroke signs. Cool the pig gradually with a damp, cool cloth on the ears and feet and get to a vet at once. In Houston, honestly, air conditioning is the safest answer there is.
