We are a small family in the Houston area who fell hard for the long-haired guinea pigs, the Peruvians, Silkies and Texels with the ridiculous fluffy coats. CavyCrew grew out of keeping our own herd: the mistakes we made early on, the gear that turned out to matter, and the vet lessons we would rather you learn from us than the hard way.
Everything on this site comes from real, hands-on experience keeping long-haired guinea pigs, cross-checked against established welfare guidance from rescues and exotic vets. Our care and health pages are written to be honest and practical, not padded, and every one carries a plain last-updated date.
One firm rule: we are not vets, and nothing here is a substitute for one. Guinea pigs hide illness and go downhill fast, so for anything medical, please see an exotic vet. We keep a list of Houston exotic vets and a symptom urgency guide to help.
